Slamming for a Cause: We are a Culture of Change

During this project I had to right a slam poem about a cuase in a specific cultural region. My partner and Iwere assigned Australia & Oceania for our culture region. Through this project we learned many different literary devices as well as information about culture regions and where they're located. We also had the oppurtunity to meet World Champion Slam Poet Joaquin Zihuatanejo and Natasha Carrizosa in order to hear their thoughts on our poem and improve them. When we presented our peom to the class we also had a slide show with pictures and information on it. After presenting, some groups were asked to present at the 'Slamming For A Cause' event we were hosting to raise money to support oone of the causes that was written about. Our chosen charity was UNICEF and it was to support the end to human trafficking. My partener and I were asked to perform at the event whcich we accepted with gratitude. By the end of the event, where we als had a silent auction, bake sale, and sold t-shirts, we raised $2,000 for UNICEF.
